Pastor
Dean and Mrs. Georgia Melton: Their reputation proceeds them...
Loves
God; loves his wife and family; never met a stranger; loves people; shepherd;
motivator - sometimes instigator; pillar; faithful; apostle, prophet, pastor
and teacher; anointed man of God. These phrases only begin to
describe our pastor. He is so much more than this…
When asked around the church for words that described him, the answers we got
were loyal, committed, good for his word, fun loving, and most of all a hard
worker.
Dr. Dean Melton was born in 1945 and has been married for 45 years
to Mrs. Georgia. They have 2 children, Wanda and Ronnie, and 1 grandson,
Justin. They have also adopted a couple sons along the way, Kelly and Dustin.
His heart is for pastors of small churches. In the last 20 years, he
has put such ambition and energy into fellowshipping and strengthening fellow
pastors and leadership. Freedom Christian Center has gone from our main church
to a fellowship of several churches and Bible Colleges in the US, Mexico, Cuba,
Nicaragua and Jamaica.
He teaches and holds fast to the conviction that the Word of God
works and will work wherever people will grab hold of it and work it. We have
had testimonies of the dead raised, the sick healed and even food growing in
volcanic ash on the island of Ometepe, Nicaragua.
They wear
many hats and have touched lives all over the world. Young and old alike have
had a life transformation through their efforts over the last 20 years as they
have developed Ambassadors to the Nations, our missions program. Hard work and
perseverance have brought Pastor Darey and Pastor Karen Jolley’s dream to ask
for the nations to pass. The Word says we often faint before we reap our
promises and inheritance. This can’t be said of our missions directors.
Ambassadors to the Nations was birthed in 1992 with a couple churches in Mexico
and has grown into a well known and respected ministry.
From car washes and BBQ dinners, they stand out in the minds of many
youth for their relentless drive to raise money for mission trips so our young
people can have the life changing experiences of touching people’s lives all
over the world.
It isn’t just all glamour of passing out food and gifts however.
There are mission classes, Spanish classes, and hands-on workshops so that the
teams they take out are well advised and equipped for the work to be done.
Toys, food, bibles, clothes and school supplies must be purchased, sorted and
organized, packed and shipped before they ever get to foreign soil.
There are full time workers and missionaries that help with the
process from start to finish under the anointed direction of our associate
pastors. The knowledge and experience they bring to the table to share reflects
the many years they have been doing this work for God and He has truly blessed
them to be able to travel with Brother Andrew Wommack all over the country
promoting the missions program now.
They have been married since April of 1985 and have one daughter,
Lisa who is married to BJ and 2 beautiful grandchildren, Ava and Judah.
